Ella Haycock BA (Hons) Interactive Arts 2020
Digital based artist interested in the issues surrounding marine conservation and shark populations. Hoping to use my work to combat environmental and physical issues by teaching younger generations through educational play. Attempting to combat the fear experienced by many towards sharks by highlighting their beauty and proving they are much less of a threat to us than we are to them. An estimated 100 million sharks are killed a year for their fins, whilst 12 humans on average are killed every year by sharks. Yet the fear people feel towards them gives the impression that these statistics should be better explained.
In an attempt to challenge human fear of sharks, I have created games that show the statistics of animal and object related human fatality and taught children that what they fear might not be as scary as they believe.
