ivona Ivanova BA (Hons) Animation 2020

I am a creative artist specialising in 3D Animation for Film and Game with a strong passion for creating unique Story Telling through 3D Visualisations. I strive to implement my traditional background in the era of digital innovation and bridge the gap between the artistic and technical side in the pipeline. I am interested in producing 3D images - both moving and static and work out the most efficient way to visualise ideas.

I am interested in offers for full-time positions, freelance work, collaborations and cool projects of any kinds!

A recent passionate project I did during Lockdown. It is inspired by the current issues of Separation and Social Distancing.
Software used: Maya, Houdini, Zbrush, Nuke, Substance Painter, rendered in Arnold.
I never thought that an individual can grow as much within a week but THU literally changes your life for good. It's been a crazy week with the most incredible people, inspiring talks and amazing mentorships.
THU Experience. This is a scene I created after I had the time of my life at the Trojan Horse was a Unicorn, depicting some of the key moments during the conference. I was full of inspiration and my creativity was overloaded. I did this scene from scratch in about a week for the Blog Post on Chaos Group's page. I used Maya for the Modelling, Substance Painter for the Textures, Rendered with Vray and added final touches in Nuke.
Interior visualization. A study on Modelling and Rendering for Arch Viz. I created this scene relying on real-world reference to practice my 3D Modelling skills combined with Photorealistic Rendering.

The scene was modelled in 3Ds Max. Wrinkles and additional details were sculpted in ZBrush. Textures - Substance Painter. For the final render, I relied on Corona Sun.

My goal for this project was to explore diverse modelling techniques, study the interaction of light and diverse materials as well as practice photorealistic rendering.
Wireframe Breakdown.
Next step for this project will be to make it optimized for a game engine. I will expand my knowledge on creating Smart materials with Substance Designer for the Chesterfield sofa leather as well as the floor. This will be a great study on optimisation and Real-Time Rendering which has been my recent passion.
Using correct Anatomy and Physiology to increase the Believability in Digital Humans.
As an artist with a diverse background, I am deeply passionate about Computer Graphics (CG) and Science. My interests lie in particular is in the intersection of these two areas and technology offers a bridge to achieving photorealism and pushing boundaries in Film and Games.
I had amazing learning outcomes during the research and development of this project. I came to the conclusion that Art can be scientific and by following the logic of biology, physiology can be the key component to being closer to achieving realism.

I implemented my 2D traditional skills into my 3D practice and used Scientific Data as a bridge. I hope this project will be useful for Artists.
A collection of oil paintings and anatomy studies. Canvases were part of my personal exhibition in Galla Art Gallery.
A personal project I did in my spare time.
I modelled the base model in Maya and did a simple rig for the compositing as well. Additional detail and normal maps were exported out of ZBrush. I decided to practice Polypainting and did the texturing in Zbrush. Rendered with Arnold. The final compositing was done in Nuke.
A challenge was the creation of the tongue and getting the clean mesh.
