Matthew Johnston BA (Hons) Filmmaking 2020

For my solo film, 'Excoriate' I explored the potential of colliding Artist Moving Image & Narrative Fiction. The story follows one character living in a bubble & explores themes of isolation and inner peace.  No script was written for this narrative, the instinctive nature of performance for camera in nature was the driving force behind this piece. 

Passionate about a wide range of filmmaking processes, I took pride in Producing every element of this short film; from concept to export. That instrinsic reward was matched by my pride when collaborating. I thoughroughly enjoyed fulfilling a specific filmmaking role under a confident leader and the busy but precise nature of the film set.
