Charlotte Lawrence BA (Hons) Fine Art 2020
Colour plays an important role in our life; it is a way we show the rest of the world who we are. My practice is an examination of the connection between emotions and colour. There is an unwritten language of colour that everyone can harness. The language used in my work is one that expresses my own mental state through the use of manipulated acrylic. I have employed a custom palette to play a role in my work that demonstrates projections of personal and vulnerable inner thoughts that are limited by a harsh border; representing the limitations of mental health.
My study blurs the line between the role of the artist and subject matter as I am injecting myself into the work. Thus, exposing my mental state and emotions for the world to see in a raw, custom, and unhinged light.
