Gabby Savage-Dickson BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation 2020

My first two years at Manchester School of Art consisted of me developing a lot of printmaking techniques such as lino, risograph, screen printing, and etching. I discovered my love for printmaking and being in a collaborative studio space. I still practice a great deal of printmaking however my third-year practice has unexpectedly developed towards more textiles based projects. I started at Manchester School of Art studying fashion and this year I have revisited the sewing machine from more of an illustrative perspective. I have discovered a love for creating models, puppets, and sets for animations. I am hoping to gain more experience in model making and set design and combining my skills in textiles and printmaking.

My most recent project focusing on people's environments in lockdown based on the headlines that were emerging. My original proposal was to create animations in these sets however due to COVID I did not have the technical resources. These sets were made from fabrics around the house and being creative in finding resources while in lockdown
