Brendon Gravell BA (Hons) Photography 2020

Brendon Gravell's most recent body of work "Periphery" is a meditation on ideas about the contemporary edgeland spaces of South Manchester, UK. It encompasses a dichotomy between nature and culture, and as humans, considers our emotional relationship to these spaces. W.J.T Mitchell's idea of using the word 'Landscape' as a verb, 'to landscape', is to intervene with the land, to be and move within it. This series embodies Mitchell's idea as Brendon pursues places in which nature and culture collide by looking at what it means to take a route and be rooted in place.
