‘A State of Recovery’ explores the relationship of former items used as a crutch within the artist’s self-recovery. This process uses the medium of chemigrams to create a new reality from the work, enabling the experience of traces to be perceivable as a new narrative that’s interpretive in subjectivity. The work challenges the view of trauma depicting beauty and allows for the interpretation of the photographic material to be a depiction of something that differs from recovery and trauma. The chemigrams are used to create a new sense of reality, the functionality of the medium was to create rather than document the trauma of self-recovery within these items.
