Louie Caulfield-Johnson BA (Hons) Photography 2020

Through fashion photography, Louie Caulfield-Johnson explores queerness and gender performance. Influenced by queer cultural discourse and academic writings on gender theory, his recent work focuses on the subject of masculinity. Contact sports, cowboys and queer bodies have been all been the focus of his most current photography. Driven to make this sort of work by his own queer experience, he aims to subvert hetronormativity and make 'gender trouble' through his images. Regular collaboration with MUAs, designers and LGBTQ+ models has enabled him to fully-realise his concepts and meaningfully respond to his research.
