This is a WIP sketchbook. I’m currently planning an animation based on a piece of poetry. I use my sketchbook as a place to experiment with textures and materials, plan timings and compositions and make reference sketches. I’m trying something new with stitch in this animation. The poetry is themed around WW1 and the women left behind after the war, and stitching holds both connotations of traditional feminity and a violence in its action. Stitched animation requires a lot of forward planning though, so this sketchbook is a trial for ideas and which papers/fabrics work best.
