Filmmaking
I am immensely proud to introduce the BA (Hons) Filmmaking final year students’ Digital Showcase ‘In Progress’ 2020.
This spring, on the brink of the most exciting and vital phase of final production, the ambitious work painstakingly researched and planned by our students throughout their final year froze in its tracks. Instead, locked down and in isolation, they turned themselves inside out to keep their creative ambitions alive. Under these difficult conditions they continued to experiment: researching and developing their ideas in new directions, collaborating remotely and creating new work under lockdown. This innovative and resilient approach to creative practice is testimony to their can-do attitude and unstoppable enthusiasm for the moving image.
This summer, in the spirit of this independent and inspirational approach to practice and in lieu of a physical exhibition, third year Filmmaking students have Initiated and developed an exciting programme of live streamed events, screenings, Q&As, script readings and more to showcase their talents online. The Filmmaking course strives to nurture personal voice and vision, risk-taking and original thinking, matched by professional confidence and technical prowess. Designed and delivered by the students, this showcase is evidence of their hard work, bravery and accomplishments over their three years on the course, and shows us the true spirit of collaboration and resilience. The Filmmaking team congratulate all our final year students on their passion, dedication and creative ambition, and wish them every deserved success in their future careers. Watch this space.
