Textiles in Practice
Future Facing + Experimental + Innovative = Textiles in Practice
Welcome to the show!
We are celebrating our diverse cohort who have shown resilience and creative prowess in their artistic endeavours this year.
The Textiles in Practice course enables students to experience textiles as a flexible and diverse subject at one of the oldest established textile courses in the UK, ranked 7th in the Complete University Guide for Art and Design 2020.
Taught within pathways, the course offers you the opportunity to either specialise or combine the disciplines of print, weave, knit, embroidery and mixed media. Specialist workshop provision offers hands-on traditional machinery and the latest technologies, supported by expert academic and technical staff who are actively engaged in research and are professional designers and artists. Emphasis is placed on the development of personal interests and ambitions that reflect the breadth, versatility and potential of textiles within contemporary art and design contexts.

Special Projects
“..STAC Architecture together with Virgin Atlantic sought out local creatives to collaborate on a prestigious project.
The intent was to focus on sustainability…The resulting designs were astounding and the creative ingenuity was inspiring to all…We were amazed at how the students interpreted the brief and were able to repurpose old 747 plane seat fabric and belts into new works of art…
We have all been moved by their creative genius and look forward to watching their creativity bloom in the years to come…”

“..Bruntwood and MSoA have collaborated on many projects…the work we’ve done with the TIP students stands out as some of the best…Projects are dealt with in a professional manner…starting with a brief, progressing through interim presentations and concluding with installation. The students are fully engaged during each phase…and are encouraged to explore ideas and materials to create site-specific designs…”
Bruntwood have commissioned new graduate works, helping them lay the foundations for a successful postgraduate career in the arts, creating a thriving, culturally rich city in the process.
